With a its bright whistle and camouflage colouring, the Shining Cuckoo is more often heard than seen. A summer migrant, found throughout the country, and holding the distinction of Aotearoa’s only iridescent green bird, they are prolific contributors to the songbird populations in forest, bush, farmland and urban areas.
